SINAPSE brings them together - organised around the scientific and professional themes where Italy and Sweden have most to gain from each other - and turns a dispersed community into a visible, connected force. Every person who joins brings something the community did not have before: a connection, an expertise, a perspective, a project. We are not here to impress you. What We Believe
The breakthrough published in a joint paper. The clinical protocol adopted in two countries. The startup that began as a conversation at a conference. None of these came from a formal process. They came from people who found each other, understood each other and decided to build something together.
That is the conviction SINAPSE is built on. We exist to create those conditions: bringing together professionals, researchers, academics, and institutions from Italy and Sweden around the themes where both countries have most to gain from each other. Not occasionally. Deliberately, and for the long term.
What We Do
SINAPSE organises the connections that do not happen by accident: thematic workshops, scientific collaborations, mobility programmes, and professional initiatives across every field where Italy and Sweden have something to build together. For the Italian professional community in Sweden, we are the structure that has been missing - a space to be visible, connected and active. For Swedish researchers and institutions interested in Italy, we are the shortcut - a framework for collaborations and joint projects that would otherwise take years to develop alone.

SINAPSE is formally registered as a förening (non-profit association) under Swedish law. Our statutes protect the independence, openness, and bilateral character of the network. We operate in accordance with Swedish regulatory requirements and the principles of scientific integrity, openness and non-discrimination.
