Celebrating Italian research excellence in Stockholm on the Italian Research Day in the World

On April 28, 2026, the Embassy of Italy in Sweden will host an important gathering dedicated to science and innovation. The event will feature the scientific symposium "Healthy aging: a route to walk", providing a high-level academic platform to discuss prevention strategies and care for age-related diseases.

Introduced by the Ambassador of Italy to Sweden, Michele Pala, and the Science Attaché, Augusto Marcelli, the symposium will welcome world-renowned speakers from @Karolinska Institutet:

  • Prof. Laura Fratiglioni: Prevention as best treatment for dementia
  • Prof. Bengt Winblad: Treatment strategies of Alzheimer Disease
  • Prof. Maria Eriksdotter: Registry data - what can it teach us about dementia progression, treatment and care?

A prestigious recognition:

Following the scientific sessions, a special ceremony will take place to award the Order of the Star of Italy (OSI) to Prof. Laura Fratiglioni. As the SINAPSE network, we are incredibly proud to see one of our members receive this honor from the President of the Italian Republic, recognizing her outstanding dedication to fostering scientific and academic collaboration between Italy and Sweden.
